This is to announce a competitive design and build project contest for all Western Piedmont Woodcrafters.  Completed projects are to be brought to our September 24, 2011 meeting.

Prizes will be awarded based on votes taken from all attending WPW members and will be in the form of either CASH or a TOOL equal to the amount of: 
1st Place = $150.00, 2nd Place = $100.00, 3rd Place = $50.00.

Rules:

· All WPW members are eligible to compete for the prizes.  Guest and non-members can participate by displaying their project but will not be eligible for prizes.

· Each project must use the Maximum of only one 2” X 4” X 96” long construction grade lumber.  However, it is not necessary to use the entire board.

· The single 2”X4” board can be cut into any shape, thickness or number of pieces in order to make the project.

· Any hardware is allowed in the construction of the project.  However, the project should maximize the use of wood.

· A maximum of two projects may be submitted by each participant, of which only one can win a prize.

· Projects may have any type of finish or be unfinished.

 

Tie Breaker Rules:

Ties for 1st place; 1st and 2nd place prize will be added together and the total will be split evenly between the two members that tied.  Exp. $150 + 100 = $250 divided by 2 will give each person $125.  If the is a three way tied the same rule will apply using 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize amounts combined and divided equally by three.

Ties for 2nd place will be handled the same as ties for 1st where the 2nd and 3rd place prizes are added together and divided by two.  Exp. $100 + $50 = $150 divided by number that tied and divided equally.

Ties for 3rd place will be divided by the number of members that tied.
